If you are looking for a place to stay in Dumaguete and don’t mind taking an extra tricycle ride to the place of 15 – 30 minutes, I would recommend Bolmon Guest House.
Bolmon Guest House is a small lodging located close to Siliman Farm and Siliman Beach. The guest house from afar looks like a set of town houses but when you visit inside it’s quite furnished enough for those free and easy groups. The guest house has a lobby (sala) and a multi function room to boot. So group gatherings can be done. The two-storey house also have different room sizes so singles, couples and a family or two can easily stay in.
Though Bolmon does have a feel of home, they do provide room cleaning and have clean sheets and bathroom. In fairness, the bathroom’s size is just enough. They do provide towels, shampoo and soap. Sorry, no toothbrushes. But they do have a cable TV inside. Air conditioning is definitely a yes.
What we had?
We stayed in one of the standard rooms and were quite satisfied enough as the staff was nice. Security guard was available especially at night. We also noted that each room could possibly have a balcony as well (we didn’t exactly poke our heads to check each one really). What I wasn’t exactly fond of though was the hot water wasn’t exactly available and the bathroom seems run down but either way we had our daily baths so no complaints there.
Other perks we do note is that the guest house do recognize senior citizens so we get our discount which is ok.
How much is the rent?
Bolmon’s rooms are the standard room (Php 750), deluxe room (Php 850), and the suite room (Php 1750). Rates do change and there are discounts (aside from the senior citizen) from time to time.
The multi function room goes at Php 2,000 for 2 hours and any exceeding will go Php 500/hour. The size of the multi function room, if my estimation is right, can hold 30 people nicely.

Here is something to consider though: Due to its location, getting a ride may be a bit of a hassle but if you don’t mind walking on the road through empty lots, coconut trees. cow here and there, it’s quite ok. You can also consider renting a scooter or a car as its cheap.
