I was driving around Metro Manila during the Christmas holidays and started noticing these signs. I know it’s not much and the quality and vantage point may not be at par to current standards but this was the only way I could capture it that time while driving alone.
Roads had them all around as an advisory of the “Christmas Lane”. You see Christmas is such a big thing in the Philippines – friends and relatives suddenly appear, parties are set, malls gladly bait the rampaging shoppers and so on and so forth. Along with the jolly season, comes the ridiculously heavy traffic jams. So in order to avoid unhappy motorists, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started to put them out to suggest routes that would help dodge the jams.
(I know this is late but the idea really needs to be aired out!)
So here’s the question. Since the Philippines is noted as the Asia’s Center of Love & Romance in a survey and traffic jams will be hitting us hard this Valentines Day, will MMDA be putting up their advisory? If they do, I just couldn’t stop picturing that this would be it.
Ok. Am just being naughty. 😛
For those who doesn’t know what Sta. Mesa is, it is one of the noted places for quick pitstops called motels.
Happy Valentines Day!!!
